What more can I say other than that I love every single item shown here in the Citizens of Humanity’s Holiday Lookbook. Starting with those kickass blue ripped babies above down to those gold pleated pants, everything looks so super edgy and classy. And, of course, no question about the fit of these jeans. I have yet to try on a pair of CoH that doesn’t fit to perfection!
For Holiday 2014, founder Jerome Dahan and Women’s Creative Director Catherine Ryu have separated the Citizens of Humanity women’s collection into three capsules: Day, Night and Resort.
The Day collection sees the return of Premium Vintage, with jeans and jackets realized in vintage washes with an authentic look and feel. The new slim slouchy boyfriend, Corey, takes center stage in grey and black, together with a new luxury sweat set – Ascot – comprised of a jogger, sweatshirt and jacket designed to be worn together in triplicate. Crew and Henley cashmere layering sweaters, and grey and black denim jackets complete the capsule. The Day collection offers a complete look for the wearer to adopt for any casual occasion.
The Night collection is inspired by contemporary artist Sterling Ruby’s work, and showcases the best-selling Rocket high-waisted skinny, finished in a variety of new washes that are perfect for evening. Rockets in light and dark blue and black have been finished with acid wash and hand-splattered pink accents to give a truly modern update on a 90’s retro jean. The Rocket has also been coated in the signature leatherette finish, and then hand-painted in a variety of metallic finishes known as Refracted, Oxidized and Lacquered. With a level of artisan finishing that is rarely seen, the Night capsule offers up denim for after-dark dressing like never before.
The Resort collection is a look forward to the SS15 collection, and gives a hint of what is to come. Light powdery shades and washes can be seen on the Corey boyfriend and Rocket skinny, as well as the Borderline jacket and Skyler short. A subtle acid splatter adds an interesting touch to the hem of a new denim pencil skirt, Karmen, and the Emerson slim boyfriend. These denim pieces are joined by a new point of view on Surplus, consisting of a re-imagined slim cargo pant, kimono-style take on a classic military utility jacket, and a high-waisted peg pant.
The combination of the Day, Night and Resort collections results in a complete offering, and confirms Citizens of Humanity as one of the leading global luxury denim brands.
