Dedication, passion and toughness; that is what inspired and drove the creation of Black Iron Clothing. A labor of love, Black Iron Clothing stands for quality and durability which can also be said when talking about the the relationship from the two-person team behind the label, Tomas and My Härstedt. Hailing for the country I call home right now, Sweden, Tomas and My created something truly special.
I think all of us at some point have been searching for that perfect something only to come up short. For Tomas it denim. In his mind it took endless searching for a unique truly limited edition pair of jeans with nothing to show for it. Either the jeans were not really limited – being produced in high numbers, or the price was just outrageous. So together with his wife My, Tomas decided to take matters into his own hands.
The journey to find the right fabric, as well as a place willing to accept his small production number, was over a year long adventure. “We was looking for the right quality and the right feel! We didn’t want the most oz for the bucks, instead we wanted a pair of jeans that felt pretty good right out of the box. A pair of jeans that could fit the denim heads and the “ordinary” people that wanted a great pair of jeans”.
The result is a truly limited edition pair of jeans, called the Knucklehead, produced in only 100 pairs! Inspired by his growing collection of motorcycles, the knucklehead is an old Harley engine and represents the thought that went into the brand’s creation. “Everyone can buy a pair of expensive jeans of the shelf but only 100 people can buy our knucklehead denim.”
What’s next for Black Iron Clothing after the 100 pairs of Knucklehead runs out? In the words of Tomas himself, “I’m trying three different jeans right now and also a jacket. So we have plans… We have very high quality requirements so we won’t order anything until we have tried it for at least six months!”
Now that is passion and that is Black Iron Clothing.
Welcome to Denimology.
Until the next pair,
