The key phrase of what I first noticed when checking out IVY denim is this: “Ivy is looking to help lay the foundation for a sustainable fashion industry in North America”. I believe that if all of us can do a little something to work towards a healthier environment, our quality of life and that of the future generations will so totally justify the means.
And of course, as you all know by now, I am a staunch supporter of selvedge denim. I love denim in its raw and unadulterated version, and Ivy Denim gives us exactly this.
IVY denim is located in LA and has its production there, as well as in Canada.
Here is what they tell us about their brand:
“Ivy Denim is a Menswear brand designed to be the beacon of modern manhood. Our mission is to inspire, educate, and create a community of men who are respected for bringing value to the world and the lives of women. We have spent the last 6 years developing our brand with our core group of consumers, who we have acquired through word of mouth and social media engagement.
Tom Jackson is our Founder and Creative Director. Born in Denver, but migrated to Sherwood Park, Canada, as a child, he has a strong love for both Canada and the USA. Ivy’s selvedge denim jeans have been constructed in Los Angeles, using premium fabrics sourced from Cone (USA) and Japanese Mills. We have developed our fit for a more tailored silhouette without being “skinny”.
We have also developed a t-shirt just for the ladies called the boyfriend tee. It was inspired by a re-occurrence of customers telling us how their girlfriends kept stealing their Ivy tees.
Our signature jean style is a tailored fit jean. A traditional fit through the waist and thighs with tapering gently towards the leg opening. Each production run features a different Selvedge denim. Right now we use a 12 & 13oz cone fabric, and have a few pairs left in a 14oz Kaihara (Japanese). We keep our wash and finishing processes fairly simple – raw. This gives the user the experience of developing that unique pair of jeans that accompanies their lifestyle. They are perfect for the post college grad, to the 45 year old professional that needs a versatile product that fits in with their schedule.”
IVY jeans can be purchased online for $175.
