Blank NYC Denim Dress in 'Dog Days' Review Top Photo

There’s something about a denim dress that just screams “effortless cool” and this denim dress in Dog Days by Blank NYC is just that. I’m a mom to two little girls, so when I’m running errands around town, I crave an outfit that is comfortable, yet stylish. In my opinion, you can never go wrong with a shirt dress and when it’s denim it’s even better. You can pair it with ballet flats to flip flops, from wedges to sneakers — anything goes. You can even dress it up for night by pairing it with a pair of sleek pumps (try white for an on trend look) or ankle strapped high-heeled sandals. So read on for my Blank NYC Denim Dress in Dog Days Review!

This pull-over denim shirt dress is a high-low style with the front hem being slightly shorter than the back hem. It has 6 snap buttons down the front and two front side slit pockets. I had to break the seam on them in order to put my hands in them. It also features to breast pockets also with snap closure. The wash is called “dog days” and is a light blue wash with slight fading around the shoulders and back area. I like that this wash gives off a bit of a vintage vibe, and I know it will look good even after many washes.

I’m wearing a size medium which, according to the online fit guide, is supposed to fit anyone that wears a size 29 in denim, has a 35″ bust, 29″ waist, and 38″ hips. Right now my denim size is usually a size 28, although I can fit in a size 27 in some styles and brands. Blank NYC is pretty true to size, but I do wonder if the size large would’ve fit me a little better. From the back, the dress looks like it fits perfectly on me, but since the front has a higher hem it does look a tad short. Some people like shorter hems, but since I’m 5’10” and I have quite a long torso, I have to be careful when wearing them, so they don’t appear too short. I’m not sure if a size large would’ve been too boxy/baggy in the bust and torso area though.

Overall, I really like this dress and I think when I’m completely back to my pre-pregnancy weight, that this will fit even better. The dress was very comfortable, and even though I had a slight issue with the shorter hemline in the front, I didn’t feel self-conscious wearing it.

If you’re after an everyday dress that’s both stylish and comfortable, then this is your dress! Plus, it’s at a great price point!
