As I get older and my style get’s more refined I realize more and more the importance of having a wardrobe that contains true staples that are timeless and versatile. As a fashion blogger that loves vintage and eclectic looks, I have filled my closet to the brim with prints and colors. I’m not going to lie, I will always love a bold print or hue, but there’s something to be said about minimal pieces that can stand the test of time. For instance, a good black blazer can go from the office to happy hour with friends. It looks equally great when worn with a pencil skirt or with a pair of skinny jeans. The same goes for a great pair of denim. If it’s high quality, fits your body just right, and has a great wash it can be styled for day or night with ease and can last for years. Well my denim friends, I have a new closet staple that I feel every gal should own and that’s the denim dress. I introduce to you my STRÖM Minni dress in Bloom review.
Every gal owns the classic LBD, or even the classic shift or shirt dress, but have you ever considered a denim dress? What’s really great about this STRÖM Minni dress is that it has a classic cut that will flatter most body types. It’s high neckline and modest hemline make it perfect for any occasion, and for day or night. I paired mine with some flatform sandals and some sick shades for an effortless cool vibe. I can also see myself pairing this with a fun statement necklace or earring, a great pair of pumps, and a clutch for evening. It would also be perfect to wear on those days when I’m busy running errands with my two little girls. On those days I would pair it with a silk scarf or panama hat, and some Nike trainers or Adidas Stan Smith’s.
I’m wearing a size small. The dress length is 33″ and the sleeve length is 9″. I’m 5’10” and I typically wear a size 27 or 28 in denim, depending on the style and brand. I thought I would be a size medium in this dress, as that is my typical size in dresses (I’m a 4 or 6), but I felt that the medium was a tad frumpy and wasn’t very flattering on me. I felt that the small fit me best overall. I have a large bust, small waist, and wide hips. I liked how the dress fit me in the chest and waist area, I just wish it had fit a little better in the hips region. It’s often hard for me to find a dress that will fit me right in my chest and waist area, as it does in my hips area. I usually have to sacrifice one over the other. However, my husband felt the small looked great on me — and sometimes you just need a man’s opinion, am I right? I mean, we women tend to be our own worst critics.
Overall I really like this STRÖM Minni dress in Bloom, and as a busy mom who’s always on the go, I feel it’s the perfect item to keep me from always wearing activewear pants and t-shirts. It has a polished feel to it, but is totally appropriate with a pair of flip flops in the grocery store, as it is with some ankle strap heels to dinner with the hubby.
So, what do y’all think? Are you a fan of the denim dress? If you already own one, how do you style yours?
