Denim Artisan, Donwan Harrell, founder and creator of PRPS jeans, has been at it again!
His latest endeavor has been developing an exclusive program about denim manufacturing and washing – you can read more about this here.
Last week, Donwan did a presentation in Portugal:
“I had to give a speech to a student body filled auditorium that consisted of students from 6 different European design schools. This was an opportunity for them to find out about my Jeanology program that was wildly successful this past summer at VCU.” says Donwan.
The event took place at the AvePark auditorium. A technological park placed in Guimarães, Portugal.
The participating schools were: Universidade do Minho (UM), Instituto Politécnico do Cávado e do Ave (IPCA), Escola Superior de Artes e Design (ESAD), Escola de Moda do Porto (EMP), Escola Profissional Cenatex (CENATEX). There were about 150 students present.”
European students have an opportunity to enter a competition, hosted by Pizarro, S.A. and win the opportunity to participate in the Summer 2016 Jeanology Program. Please see details below.

“Because of the limited space of my denim course at VCU, I can only provide 20 students per summer to be considered. 10 from Europe 10 from the US. It’s a denim design and development competition where students have to send in their work to be considered for the curriculum. The American students have to register thru VCU 866) 534-3201 (toll free) | (804) VCU-ARTS.”
