We, @Denimology, are always very curious about our denim brands. What makes them “tick”, what’s their story, how do they meet the daily challenge of being a brand always on top of fashion and new styles, and how do they deal with the pressure of creating new collections at least twice a year. And not only this, we are also curious about the people behind the brands, the designers, models, creators… how do they live, whom do they love and – especially – what made them be what they are!

All true denim lovers out there have heard of Triarchy at one point or another, and about the three siblings behind the brand. Ania Taubenfligel and her brothers, Mark and Adam, are the trio behind the world of Triarchy. We have often heard the brand’s designer, Adam Taubenfligel, refer to his sister as the muse behind the women’s line and his inspiration. We wanted to get to know this denim/fashion muse a little better and see what Ania is all about.

Where were you born?

In Vancouver, Canada.

What did you want to be when you were young?

An explorer or adventurer, sort of like Indiana Jones or Lara Croft. I was a bit of a tomboy but how could you not be with two older brothers. I love adventures and exploring.

Who influenced you most growing up?

I’d say my family. I couldn’t pick just one member. My whole family is a big part of who I am. I wouldn’t be the women I am today without them.

Who are your top five style icons?

Bridget Bardot, Claudia Schiffer, Kate Moss, and my mother are my four permanent style icons. The fifth one I always switch up as it depends who currently is making a splash on the style frontier. Right now, that’s Gigi Hadid, I’m loving her style. That sure paints a colorful picture, lol!

How would you describe your style?

I always find it difficult to describe my style. To me, style is something that can’t be confined into a couple words. Style doesn’t define you, it’s a way to express yourself, it reflect’s you and your interests. So my style is very broad as it depends on time, place and even my mood. If I had to describe it though I would say my style always is a little timeless, chic and carefree.

Have you traveled a lot?

Yes, I have been very fortunate to be able to see a lot of the world. I’ve been all over the map but I still have so many places to left to explore. Traveling is my favorite thing to do.

What first turned you onto the denim industry?

The history of it, denim is one of the oldest textiles in the world and that fascinates me as I love history. Denim’s history is especially interesting to me because it’s such a big part of North American History. It’s also the one garment that everyone owns, you can find denim in everyone’s closet and I love that.

How did you get into the fashion industry?

Through modelling, I started modelling when I was 15 and it brought me into the world of fashion. Through modelling I got to travel, meet amazing people and see the world.

What is your role in Triarchy?

I am the brand stylist, I do our Social Media and I produce our photo shoots and runway shows. I also design saddles and am starting to design other accessories, which is very exciting.

Why do you love what you do?

I love what I do because gives me a way to express myself, push my creativity boundaries and to continue exploring my passions.

What inspires you?

Travel. Nothing is more inspiring then exploring places and meeting people from all walks of life. Seeing and experiencing so many cultures makes me admire all the unique beauty there is in people’s own styles and how they express themselves and that inspires me.

What are your favorite staple pair of jeans?

Triarchy is all I wear now but I’m not sure I could just pick one. In the winter I’d say my skinny jeans and in the summer I simply love my destroyed boyfriend jeans.

If you could use three words to describe you what would they be?

Passionate, Adventurous, Loving.

If you could say something to those out there who are looking to start their own passion project what would you say?

Life is so short that we have to embrace whats important and whatever excites your heart. It’s important to follow your passions because you’ll always have a fire for that. The people you surround yourself with is also important. Surround yourself by those you truly love and who truly love and support you. Don’t loose sight of what and who is important in your life and I would say what my brother, Adam, always tells me. Life begins at the end of your comfort zone. Above all, have courage and be kind to yourself and others.

Well, even though this only covers the basics we can see how Ania is most certainly a Muse to not only her brothers but to those she comes in contact with.
