The Bangladesh Denim Expo will kick off on April 25th, displaying the latest designs of jeans and denim products from Bangladesh.
The fourth edition of the expo will be held at the International Convention City Bashundhara, Dhaka.
“The main purpose of the show is to create a platform for the country’s denim manufacturers to show their strength to the global buyers,” said managing director of Denim Expert Ltd., Mostafiz Uddin. “Bangladesh now produces more denim products and it has now become one of the major sourcing destinations for foreign buyers”, he added. “We have received remarkable response from global buyers to participate, as Bangladesh offers quality products with competitive prices.Even though we have the possibility to expand the size of the expo, we are facing space crisis to accommodate international customers at the venue.”
Among the novelties are the laser machines, featuring a new technology which is used to achieve additional distressing and whiskering effects in denim products. This technology also helps reduce water consumption by 30 to 40 per cent per year, as well as the quantity of chemicals, which is reduced by 20 to 30 per cent.
During the expo, seminars will be held on different issues. The speakers will share their experiences about the industry which will help Bangladeshi manufacturers to increase their productivity.
A total of 49 companies – 37 foreign and 12 local – will display their products in the exhibition. Companies from Germany, China, Italy, Singapore, Turkey, Japan, India, Pakistan, Vietnam, Spain, Brazil and Thailand will participate in the show. At present, some 26 manufacturers produce 360 million yards of denim fabrics in the country. They meet 40 per cent of the local demand while the rest is met through import, according to industry insiders.
