As you all know, I had been invited this past weekend by the Pizarro SA family to be one of the judges at the Paulo Ribeiro Competition in Portugal.

This competition was founded by the family in memory of Paulo Ribeiro, who was the first worker at the Pizarro Factory and wash-house in Guimarães, Portugal. He just recently passed away, and to honor his memory, the family is giving aspiring fashion designers the chance to win a scholarship for the Jeanology program at the VCU (Virginia Commonwealth University) in Richmond, USA. The five lucky winners will also be invited for an internship at the PRPS showroom in NYC, led by the owner and creator, Donwan Harrell – who, of course, was one of the judges as well.

Let me tell you, it was a very hard choice! All the garments were beautifully crafted, the finishing superb, and it was really tough choosing five winners out of the ten finalists.

I captured the most important moments in a video which I took during the presentation of the ten finalists, enjoy!

Thank you, Vasco, Margarida, Ricardo, Mr. and Mrs. Pizarro, for inviting me, it was the most awesome experience! Such a pleasure to meet you all, get the tour of your amazing factory and learn a bit about your work, your factory, and your lifestyle. Muito Obrigada! 🙂
