Today I had this great opportunity to meet a lot of the people “behind the scene” of Vicunha. As I had told you in my previous post, I had been invited by them to preview their newest F/W 2017 editions. It is an invite only event and is taking place at the Vicunha showroom in São Paulo, Brazil.
And O.M.G. – what an impressive preview. All possible – all you can imagine – trends were represented here. New denim fabrics, like the Diesel’s Dryyarn, as well as new wash techniques were shown.
Ranging from the Vintage collection, to Color, Movement, Tie-dye, ripped, distressed, and “clean”, there were hundreds of garments available for the guests to check out.
Besides being impressed by the collections, I also enjoyed listening to the presentations done by the guest speakers during the seminars. They gave us all a very clear and precise preview about the denim evolution until 2017.
Guest speakers included Vasco Pizarro from Pizarro SA – remember, I had just been to Portugal and visited Pizarro SA a few weeks ago! Another speaker was Lara Canal, who spoke about denim styles and denim fits, among other things.
Thomas Dislich, the Vicunha rep for Europe and Asia, then invited us for a very typical Brazilian lunch at a “churrascaria”, where I had the opportunity to dive deep into “denim talks” with buyers and denim manufacturers from all over the world, and will keep you all in the know in future posts.
Deborah Turner, who is the head PR of the Vicunha, located in London, and who flew in especially for this vipreview, actually inspired me for some very interesting new posts here @Denimology. As a former fashion designer and denim buyer, we got involved in a most interesting talk about the importance of jean’s back pockets. Sooner or later, all of us who love jeans, are bound to become confused by the different back pockets designs – which ones are making our butt look better, sexier, smaller, bigger….etc. So I am going to approach brands to let us all know how they solve the back pocket issue of their jeans. Cool, isn’t it!
Check out some of the most interesting images from the Vicunha vipreview and let us know which trend/style/wash you like best!
