When the boyfriend jean first came out, it was seen as a more laid back, beachy summery style. It definitely didn’t catch on with me right away, and I know others felt the same. It’s come a long way though from Katie Holmes wearing Tom’s baggy jean down the street (and thus starting the trend), however, as the boyfriend jean has grown up and evolved to new levels. Here is LOLO Magazine blogger Lauren Scruggs Kennedy in STRÖM Brand, wearing the KILLE Boyfriend in Pavement. The KILLE is a drop crotch slouchy straight cut in stretch selvedge denim, with a little bit of distressing and repair in a black wash. It also has a raw hem, which is the most fun trend I’ve seen in denim in awhile! Lauren shows us how super chick the all-black look really is, but black doesn’t always need to mean slim! The addition of this distressed loose fit jean adds a bit of extra character, and her nude strappy heels keep it looking dressy. The boyfriend jean is your new work-to-dinner piece, if you do it right!

I’ve been quite the denim fanatic for several years now, and am happy to apply this passion to something that I can share with others. I am also a graphic designer/web developer and have done design work for two of the biggest designer boutiques in town, which is partly to blame for the 100 plus pairs of jeans I now own in my collection! It always fascinates me how much can be done with the denim fabric alone, and the constant innovations will always keep me hooked.
