Levi’s means jeans, the two are synonymous, always and everywhere. No matter the year or fashion direction a pair of vintage Levi’s are forever cool. You can choose to wear them as they are or opt for a little DIY project to create a more unique, tailored to your personality look; it’s up to you. But while not all of us can brag about our design/crafting/sewing talents I know exactly where you can find an amazing pair of reworked vintage Levi’s denim. Nasty Gal has created an exclusive After Party collection that consists of pieces made from vintage or deadstock fabric right in the heart of the denim sanctuary, Downtown LA.

Nasty Gal offers a great range of revitalized Levi’s essentials from skirts to shorts and jeans that have an undeniable WOW look! Just like their names the styles are bold and sassy. The Rose Above It jeans that I received for my review are no exception and exude a truly edgy, rebellious vibe. Shredded throughout both legs with pocket linings peeking though the holes and randomly placed embroidered rose appliqués they are a mix of insolence, femininity and sexiness. The classic, simple light blue wash serves as an excellent canvas for such active design while highlighting their vintage look.

The fit of the After Party by Nasty Gal Rose Above It features the on trend ultra-high rise with a particularly long back rise. Seriously, these jeans have the highest waistline I have ever seen which makes them perfect with a cropped or even a very cropped top 🙂 Overall with some extra room in the leg and tush they are pretty close to a boyfriend cut which is comfy and easy to wear.  They have a fairly straight leg measuring 13” at the bottom and with the hem hitting right below the ankle you can wear them uncuffed (like on the model here) or roll them up like I did. In fact, I rolled them with a little pleat next to the seam which slightly changes the overall outline and creates a more tapered, a-la carrot silhouette that I love.

If you look on the Nasty Gal web-site it says that these jeans run small and they recommend ordering one size up. As you see it totally worked for me and size 25 instead of my usual 24 fits perfectly. Keep in mind however that due to the way of production no two pairs are going to be completely the same for wash or fit not to mention they are 100% cotton so relying on stretch is not going to fly here. Don’t worry though if the jeans you ordered are not ideal, simply exchange them for a different pair. Trust me, they really are worth a little bit of patience.

I certainly love the whole “vintage redone” concept of the After Party collection. Not only is the idea good but the product is excellent too.  If you like truly unique pieces with lots of individuality and personality this line is for you!

I am the EU contributor and product reviewer for Denimology. From the time I was 5 years old browsing through my first fashion magazine I knew I wanted to be in this industry. While working as a Merchandiser at Gloria Jeans, the largest denim manufacturer and retailer in Russia, I discovered my passion for denim. It fascinated me then and years later it fascinates me even more. Every day I learn and discover something new and exciting about denim and am thrilled to do it hand in hand with all of you!
