STRÖM Brand Fyra Cigarette Jean and Bysso Tank Review - Front View 5

It’s been almost exactly a year ago since I last had the privilege of reviewing a beautiful jean from STRÖM Brand, and I’m excited to be able to present one to all of you again! This brand is such an amazing go-to for clean, quality, well-fitting classic styles that are built to last, including a few selvedge styles like my last review (see here). Skinny jeans are basically my signature cut, as I wear them every day, all the time. However, not everyone is partial to the skinny jean, and some may prefer a slim style that’s somewhere between a straight and a skinny without being quite so body-hugging. This next jean I’m reviewing here is that perfect middle ground! Along with a favorite jean goes a favorite tank as well, and I’ve got a great one from STRÖM to share with you that pairs well with these jeans. So read on for my STRÖM Brand Fyra Cigarette Jean and Bysso Tank review!

I can’t even begin to count how many skinny styles I have, and somehow they never get old to me. I love them all. However, even though they are all some of the best of the best, softest jeans around, sometimes I want something a little more relaxed, but yet still fitted. It’s a tough middle ground to find! The STRÖM Fyra is basically a skinny jean, but it has a slightly wider leg opening, giving some room for your ankles to breathe. I immediately noticed how freaking soft they were (as I always expect from this great brand), much like a jogger jean, and the wash is something a bit more unique than what I have. Although it looks like a flat rinse wash, it does have some light whiskering and fading into a vibrant blue, almost like a raw jean that’s just beginning to break in. It’s such a beautifully clean jean, but has just enough character to avoid being boring!

I was sent my usual size of 26 and I basically let out a sigh as I slid them on. They are definitely true to size, made in such a way that I didn’t need to do the usual dance to get them on. The stretch doesn’t seem to be made to hug, but rather just be there for comfort. The cropped 30” inseam makes things so darn comfortable too, allowing my ankles to breathe in this warm California summer, and the mid 8.25” rise keeps them up on my curvy athletic shape without needing a belt. I think they actually fit better than the Tio that I reviewed last time, although that one was a lower rise, and mid rises seem to fit me better! The Tio was also selvedge, made from mostly cotton so it wasn’t quite as stretchy. Since I’m athletic, I have pretty shapely calves, so sometimes skinny fits with small leg openings takes some work to fit into, especially if they don’t have much stretch. The cigarette rather than skinny fit here really solves that problem and the extra room in the leg opening actually helps tone down the shape of my calves, much like a flare jean flatters a curvy body. I loved these jeans so much that I wore them for several days in a row and they only got better—they were already ridiculously soft, but they also seemed to get softer without losing their shape or fit one bit. I have several straight jeans that I love when I feel like I’m in a more casual mood, and prefer skinnier fits when I really feel stylish. This one is somewhere in between, as mentioned, allowing me to feel casual and relaxed, but stylish and chic too!

STRÖM was gracious enough to send me the Bysso Tank in Black along with the Fyra jean, which is a super comfortable version of your classic 100% cotton ribbed racerback tank. It runs a little large and is pretty stretchy, so I took an extra small (usually I am a small all around). As you can see it’s still fitted, and it still has a lot of stretch left! It’s extremely soft and lightweight, so it’s not at all tight and feels like it’s floating on my skin. You can never have too many basic black tanks, but this one takes comfort to another level! It’s also nice and long so it’s super easy to layer, and it also comes in white!

When investing in a great pair of jeans, many people prefer to pick a pair that fits a variety of occasions rather than one that can only be worn every once in awhile, and the STRÖM Fyra in Eda totally fits that bill. The dark wash keeps it looking upbeat and clean enough for business casual gatherings or a nice dinner, but the comfort factor and slightly softer slim fit also makes them a wonderful everyday jean. I’ve worn them to work casually with flats but they’d also look beautiful with a soft silky blouse and tall tall heels! These jeans flatter without seeming like they are TRYING to flatter, it’s just a pleasant side effect of an extremely well constructed, comfortable and versatile slim-fit jean. They are going to be one of my favorite skinny (or straight) jean alternatives for a long, long time!

I’ve been quite the denim fanatic for several years now, and am happy to apply this passion to something that I can share with others. I am also a graphic designer/web developer and have done design work for two of the biggest designer boutiques in town, which is partly to blame for the 100 plus pairs of jeans I now own in my collection! It always fascinates me how much can be done with the denim fabric alone, and the constant innovations will always keep me hooked.
