Another of Vicunha’s trend predictions for fall and winter 2017/18 confirms that frayed hems and colorblocking is here to stay for at least another couple of seasons. It’s good to know, because investing in these styles will be really worth it!

DESIGNER EXPERIENCE

Denims in different shades of blue, incorporating diverse laundry techniques in order to reveal different nuances, are essential. The laundry an washing techniques focus on the contrast, ranging from raw denim to délavée.

Different nuances are used and applied in geometric patches, as well as in seams and hems. The frayed aspect is created by shredding and fraying methods in sheaths and by diversified cuts.

Washing and stone-washing techniques create different kinds of fading and stain effects. These are executed in large, small, as well as in more delicate proportions.

The visual and artistic aspect is reinforced by textures and through irregular surfaces, that are achieved by cutting unfinished forms and by using overlapping fabrics while cutting the denim.

Can this jacket be purchased? Love it. Original and versatile.

  3. I’ve asked the Vicunha guys and here is what they told me: “these are inspirational pieces created for our V trend magazine using our fabrics so are true ‘one offs’ not available to purchase”
