Here are some more insights into Vicunha’s trend predictions for fall and winter 2017. This collection is called “The Design Experience” and is focused on finishes and washes of the denim, including a lot of colorblocking.
Comfort is a main feature. Stretch fabrics with a smooth feel and a soft touch are essential in this new collection. And, of course, the quality of the materials is most important.
Indigo blue, ranging from raw denim to bleached out. Medium- and heavier weight denims with special finishes and dyes are essential. Black denim continues as a strong influence and also contributes to the aesthetic ton-sur-ton of the trend. Fabrics with intense dyes are made with different washing technologies, ranging from the original color to a more faded and worn look. Delicate forms and volumes have a 3D feel, transmitting a tactile sensation and a stylish look. The surfaces receive an artsy effect, produced by overlapping of fabrics. Frayed effects are no longer present only in hems, but also in unexpected places, like sleeves and body, creating a modern and trendy look.
Classic jean-swear elements are reworked in an authentic and unique way, inspired by contemporary design, art, and fashion experiments. The blue and black denim is represented in laidback styles, but with lots of details. In this post-minimalist aesthetic, it is treated with different combinations of materials and visual effects. Fabric mix, unexpected cuts, and unconventional applied patches project a timeless and ultra-cool trend vibe.
Projecting an experimental and contemporary approach. Proportions, volumes, and styles of classic items are reviewed and re-created resulting in a hybrid and unique aesthetic. Deconstructed cuts and unexpected details are combined with decorative patches and applications with different types of materials. The textured look is complemented by surfaces
that receive fabric overlap and shredded edges. Oversized denim in fluid, as well as structured shapes are reflecting the essence of the trend, combining comfort and individualism.
The collection is a mixture of casual shapes. Tops and bottoms are elaborated in complex configurations, using surfaces with patches, creating worn-in effects. Mismatched and different materials, applied in a single piece, reinforce the idea of re-use.
