We are in the midst of a huge vintage – back to the roots – moment. The boy jean is the style that most catches this vibe and we love that Madewell has quite a few options of those in their new collection.

There is a big difference between a boyfriend jean and a boy jean. A boyfriend is baggier and slouchier, while a boy jeans is usually almost a straight leg with a wider cut, and preferably a cropped or ankle length.

Check out a couple of rad style options below, and especially, the ones from Chimala, which are a true and authentic denim style (and wash) from the past! Made of selvedge denim, in darker and rather non-treated denim, these jeans have  perfect vintage vibe. Please note that these Chimala jeans run big, so you need do downsize at least one size.

Madewell The Perfect Vintage Jean in Chet Wash

  1. I like the looks of these from the front. (some links aren’t working). Beware, Madewell denim runs over a size big even by today’s vanity sizing standards. Their denim melts and grows a size in hours, which isn’t a big deal for boy jeans – just wear a belt. The perfect vintage jean is very unflattering on the model from the back. High pockets make a person’s butt look dumpy. Men’s jeans don’t have those high pockets.
