One of the reasons I love denim so much is that it’s an art form on its own. So many people I know think a pair of jeans is just a pair of jeans and have NO idea about its history or how expansive the industry is! However it goes even further beyond that. Denim also always been a great canvas for personal expression through art. Paint splotches, patches, glitter, rhinestones and other embellishments—you name it. It’s historically kind of a hip hop, rock n’ roll or punk kind of thing, but over the years it’s made its way into mainstream society, and who doesn’t love customizing and doing a little DIY? Here is Hunt For Styles blogger Gina Ybarra‘s Custom BLANKNYC Jacket, adorned with all sorts of cute patches during an outing in San Francisco. This jacket, on its own, is a stunner though! It’s the BLANKNYC Distressed Denim Jacket in Toe Jam (I know, this brand and their wash names), and it features a cool vintage feel with a foldover collar, a medium hand-sanded wash, frayed rips, button-front chest pockets, button cuffs and a button up front. BLANKNYC also excels in making all sorts of awesome stuff that are set at awesome prices, which has made them a top favorite brand of mine over the years! Everything is edgy and fun, but also manages to be timeless (but when it comes to the creative side of fashion, who cares about that part, really).
