Mountain Hardwear Men's Stretchstone Denim Jean Review-full front
Patrick here for another great pair of denim to review for Denimology. The rainy season has begun here in Portland, so it’s time to check out my Mountain Hardwear Men’s Stretchstone™ Jean review featuring CORDURA® fabric. Not only was I looking forward to reviewing this great looking pair of denim, but I can’t wait to give them a test run against this year’s winter weather and terrain.

These are a higher end pair of jeans from Mountain Hardwear, and already with the look, durability and feel of the denim, I think they’re going to be a wardrobe staple for my lifestyle. Lets get down to the details of these Mountain Hardwear Men’s Stretchstone™ Denim Jean.

Mountain Hardwear has packed a lot of cool details into their new jeans. Partnering with CORDURA® Denim Fabric (who is celebrating their 50th anniversary), they have designed a pair of jeans that feel like 100% cotton, but are 4 times as abrasive resistant. The soft luxurious lightweight fabric is made with a high 6.6 nylon fiber count mixed with cotton to add durability and strength to the material. The blend creates a soft authentic feel that after washing a few times, gets even softer without loosing the original shape. CORDURA® fabric is the material which has been used in military combat gear and uniforms for 45 years. The stretch in the CORDURA® fabric is going to give anybody wearing these jeans a great range of unrestricted motion and flexibility. It is very cool to see retailers applying industrial heritage fabrics like CORDURA® to civilian clothing and fashion.

Some other cool details Mountain Hardwear has thrown into these Stretchstone™ Jeans are the angular pocket and zipper stitches on the front. The jeans feature a zipper fly with a button top, and front and coin pockets that are extra deep so you won’t loose your valuables. My large phone easily fits in the front as well as the back pockets. Double stitched back pocket corners add extra strength. There is no adornment on the back patch pockets themselves but the Hardwear tag, and a nice third inside pocket on the back left side has been added for accessories, tools or flashlights. The back yoke on the seat and side yokes on the legs help give a bit more definition to the fit.

My 32 waist and 32 inseam jeans fit perfectly. I’ve already washed them a few times and found that with this material there was very little shrinkage or color loss. They keep their original shape and fit nicely. These jeans are incredibly soft and stretchy, I can do just about any activity I want and not worry about my denim getting faded or abraising. The waist has a modern mid-rise, the leg is slim and straight without being too tapered or skinny, perfect for any guy’s silhouette. The dark indigo wash pairs perfectly with just about any shoes and shirt.

Being a bike commuter, I appreciate the reflective strip added to the underside of both legs so you are visible at night when cuffing your jeans to ride your bike home in the dark. The stretch also makes my commute really comfortable with a wide range of motion to pedal comfortably for long periods of time. And with the high nylon count, light rain isn’t a problem either. I’ve been rocking these jeans the past few days to and from work on my bike and taking lots of muddy dog walks. After a few washings they are are holding up and looking great.

These Mountain Hardwear Men’s Stretchstone™ Jeans made with CORDURA® Denim are going to be great for my active lifestyle here in the Pacific North West. These fashion forward jeans by Mountain Hardwear not only offer up a great style and fit, and an authentic denim feel, but also innovative details and fabrication that are going to last for years. On the Label Mountain Gear dares you to try and wear these jeans out; I am certainly going to try and I hope you do too! Get your Mountain Hardwear Men’s Stretchstone™ Jeans here.
