My first thought – when I saw these jeans at Coterie in the Siwy booth this past month – was, that these are so retro! They transmitted that unique vintage vibe instantly because of the wash, even before I saw the style and the details.
If you believe that vintage is equal to beaten up, distressed, or ripped, think again! For me it’s also this very wash, like the deep blue that you don’t see a lot around these days. I instantly think of all those pin-up images from old magazines of models clad in exactly this same wash denim.
Here is how Siwy describes their cropped and high waisted flare:
“The Emmylou is a high waist ankle flare. A new take on a classic style, creating a relaxed look that emits vintage aesthetics and lounge comfort along with runway appeal. It features a traditional straight back yoke and clean, crisp lines reminiscent of early era denim, imparting the wearer with a vintage Americana feeling.”
Even the red floral embroidery and the slightly frayed hems are totally in sync with the whole vintage feel, delicate, and a beautiful addition to the otherwise very clean and almost sober blue wash. It’s all about the details!
You can buy the Emmylou In Cafe De Flore (even the name is so old-fashioned, I love it!) on the Siwy website.
