Hip-Hop Artist A$AP Ferg collaborated with AGOLDE for an Exclusive Fall 2017 Unisex Collection.
While growing up in Harlem, Ferg’s father owned a clothing boutique, which led to Ferg developing a strong interest in fashion at an early age. Ferg turned to fashion as his creative outlet and eventually went on to study fashion design in art school and create his own clothing label, Devoni.
Ferg originally decided to join forces with AGOLDE in 2015 due to the brand’s like-minded vision to create high quality and heartfelt products as well as its expertise in innovative designs. For his first collection with the denim label, Ferg interned at AGOLDE’s in-house laundry and manufacturing facilities based entirely in Los Angeles to learn about the production process from start to finish and ensure the collection is true to his aesthetic.
Due to the success and continued demand of the first A$AP Ferg x AGOLDE collection which launched for Spring 2016, the denim label has partnered with Ferg for a second collection. He returned to the AGOLDE factory to collaborate with AGOLDE’s design team to create a collection which draws influence from his own personal denim archive to produce a capsule that fits his lifestyle.
While Ferg has escalated as an artist known not only for his talent as a rapper but for his statement making ensembles, AGOLDE has emerged as the denim destination with youth culture inspired products, making for a perfect alignment to appeal to not only Ferg’s devoted fans, but AGOLDE’s dedicated customer base as well.
The collaboration expands outside of denim this time around, taking on a unisex design approach. The juxtaposition of genderless pieces that are versatile in how they can be sized and styled speak to a shift in a modern day approach to design, and skew the definition of androgyny. The blurred lines between masculine and feminine aesthetics, along with utility references and repurposed vintage pieces with custom artwork support a tight package of denim.
Denim is grounded in three fit offerings including a men’s skinny jean, a women’s classic straight leg named the Jamie, as well as a unisex straight jean named the Division.
Artwork and graphics personal to Ferg run throughout the collection.
The collection offers twelve pieces total, which include five jeans, four outwear styles, a graphic tee, as well as a unisex tracksuit. All styles retail between $58 – $350. The collection launched exclusively at The Webster Miami and TheWebster.com.
Note from the editor: I have been able to check out this collection at the AGOLDE press preview and let me tell you – it’s insane! I am totally obsessed with their genderless jeans especially – Way to go!!
