If you have been following the media and watching the latest add campaigns, then you know. Designers have finally woken up to reality, to our actually very beautiful curvy reality, and we couldn’t be more delighted.
Gone are the times when you had to wear a pair of maternity jeans because there just weren’t any cool denim options around when you were more than a size 10.
Let’s be realistic, 90% of the American women are just not a size Gigi Hadid and that’s ok. We love “real” women – hey, no offense Gigi and Bella, you will always be our role models! We are taking inspiration from you and translate them into doable.
Denim manufacturers all over the USA have faced this absolute niche in the denim market and now its curvy time.
And of course, being that we want to reach out to ALL of our readers, we searched for the best and trendiest jeans for the curvy and the plus size ladies among you. And we totally skipped the boring dark blue washes, because, hello ladies, it’s summer time!
And before you go shopping just a few tips:
Many curvy women face the problem of finding a pair that fits well on the waist and hips simultaneously. Try on styles that are a few sizes up if necessary. Squeezing into a size too small will only do your curves more disservice than favors.
Skip low-rise jeans altogether. Mid-rise or high waist options are not only flattering, but also on trend. Jeans that sit comfortably below your belly button are an ideal pick. Accentuate your waistline with a belt or a cinched top.
Straight-legged jeans and high waisted skinny jeans are a good choice, too, but if you prefer not to be constricted, go for the mom jean which is having its comeback moment right now.
Bootcut or flare jeans are ideal to balance your curves. Choose a pair with Lycra content, or Elastan. This combination of form and function will keep you comfortable while highlighting your best assets.
In terms of wash and/or colors, we have always heard that the best choice would be a darker wash, besides black, but we do not agree. Forget the myth that you can’t wear white – or any bright color like pink or yellow – it’s really only all about what you feel good in.
