Honestly – if I had been a denim editor during Princess Diana’s time, I would have posted about her in denim like at least once every day!
Forget about the Kardashians, Hadids, etc. being fashion-forward. How the heck did Princess Diana know at that time about denim overalls, mom jeans, high waisted, and even star studded jeans! And tucked into boots. And pairing her jeans with a classic navy blazer for a social event!
We are stoked, and we need to share some of her denim images with you here.
Nowadays it’s all about the 80’s, ’90 and so on, vintage denim come-back. And Princess Diana at that (vintage) time, was, what we call today, a fashion influencer, a trend setter, for all the denim styles we are wearing today.
In the image above she is wearing a pair of skinny (non stretch, they hadn’t even invented stretch back then!) jeans, tucked into knee-high slouchy boots. Like today’s skinny jean from Madewell, the Rigid High Waist Skinny Jeans.
Enjoy – and let us know what you think.
Light blue cropped denim overalls emphasizing her waist with a rope belt. Today, find a similar pair from Lucky Brand, the Boyfriend Overall.
Social event, no problem. She paired her ankle-length jeans with a pair of navy Superga sneakers (still going on strong today), with a double breasted navy blazer with gold buttons.
Cropped black hi-rise mom jeans back then, and today check out an almost identical pair from Topshop.
How cool are these acid wash jeans! Here’s a pair for you from Juicy Couture, the Acid Wash Girlfriend jean.
Thinking of the top trend for this coming fall – the medium blue straight leg? Well, Diana obviously also thought so. Here is a pair from the RE/DONE newest collection, the Hi-Rise Loose jean.
And again, a rigid pair of skinnies tucked yet into another pair of knee-high leather boots.
Fancy some star-studded jeans, well, so did Diana. Here’s similar pair from NYDJ, the Skinny Ankle with Star Details.
