One of the runway shows happening during this past New York Fashion Week, was R13.

We were super excited about what they were going to come up with and even already posted Kaia Gerber in on of their outfits.

But, d’ooh, disappointing. Sending out a major Déjà Vu vibe – there was nothing on the runway that we actually hadn’t seen from the brand before. Honestly, we all expected so much more than those ragged denim shorts that Australian brand, One Teaspoon and our very own New York based brand, BLANKNYC, have been doing for years now. Cropped bootcut jeans? So, what else is new? Baja prints reminding us of rugs, Hawaiian printed tops, tie-dyed, nah, we pass, thank you.

We hope that this R13’s new designer, Chris Leba, will grow into the brand, and continue with outside-of-the-box designs. Even weird denim will be more welcome than those rather non-impressive pieces we saw at the runway show.

But check them out for yourself – we have chosen some denim images for you to see here. What do you think of this spring 2019 collection?

Love it – or hate it – or indifferent?

Anyway, if you are a fan of the brand (and we actually really are), you can shop for their fall and winter ’18 collection which is sill super cool, different, and challenging – check out our lookbook post.

Available at Barney’s, Net-A-Porter, and at Totokaelo.

  1. I actually love the prints and the footwear. I do prefer it to the winter collection, which I find is interesting, but unflattering!
