Judging by all the post we have published this past year, there is one pair of jeans that went soaring, surpassing those must-have skinny traditional pair of jeans. It’s all about the rigid denim straight leg jean. Check out the immense quantity of posts we have published about this very style here.

It all started when we became addicted to vintage denim about two years ago. And I mean really addicted. We have always known about vintage denim, always had a couple of old Levi’s, Wranglers, or even Lees, somewhere in the back of our closet.

And then some brands came up with the re-furbished and re-purposed denim. They recycled old jeans and modernized them, adapting them to our way of life today.

Brands like RE/DONE, Urban Renewal, and Triarchy – just to mention a few, and of course, the iconic Levi’s and Wranglers, became the most sought after and most seen out and about. On celebrities, influencers, and people like you and me.

And then, as it became very obvious that the rigid denim straight leg was practically the most sought after style, tons of brands jumped on the wagon, creating their own version of the straight leg. Many brands managed to achieve an authentic vintage wash, and others created their own interpretation in different washes. Or re-created the original vintage jean, like Frame, Grlfrnd, or AGOLDE.

But one thing they all have in common: the rigid denim straight leg. It can be more on the skinny side, or a total straight leg, or even a wider leg. But the key-words are rigid and straight.

So, are you on? Have you bought your pair yet? Or are you still on the skinny jeans trip? And if you are, not a problem, there are brands out there that have created rigid denim skinnies as well.

So now you know what to look for when shopping for your 2019 denim. The rigid straight leg may have hit off in 2018, but it ain’t going anywhere anytime soon. The rigid straight leg is here to stay.
