Gilded Age, known for their very unique denim styles and, especially, their outside-of-the-box washes, just release their newest lookbook for this coming fall and winter 2019. And as the brand is based in New York City, in the heart of NYC, Soho – as a matter of fact – it totally makes sense that they created a collection based on NYC artists and performers from the underground scene.
And let’s just say – this is not purely a new denim collection, but rather a collection built on lifestyle and self-expression.
“In the past few months, as we were designing our Fall 2019 collection, we have immersed ourselves into a vibrant New York City’s artists and performers underground scene. We went to many gigs across the city’s landscape, and have visited events and performances that silently feed the pulse of the city. This trek through the artistic heart of the city has induced us to reassess the meaning of art and fashion, simplicity of creation, unity of purpose, and the sturdy creative individualism for which this city is known.
This trip has ultimately confirmed that the best expression of the art is when the individual is independent and truly self-reliant in one’s own expression. We do believe that all individuals are naturally creative and that everyone’s potential is limitless. With the Fall 2019 collection we took a look into ourselves and what it means to be an artist, explored art and imagination, and created another uniquely American casual luxury collection that embodies Gilded Age art and craft and a relaxed individual lifestyle.
Fall 2019 embodies Gilded Age luxury casual style, and showcases the rich and textured collection of layers in our style. Perennial colors, mix of gray, black, navy, and brown, accentuated with the hints of brownstone orange, silver gray, taupe and wine red are used in rich layers of wide stripes, city checks and artist’s plaids. The air of ease, lightness and warmth permeate the collection. In denim, Gilded Age introduces a variety of new jean fits: Bowery cropped full leg fit, 18“ hem Houston wide leg fit, and 22“ hem full leg fit. All new fits are represented in raw selvage, raw worked signature GA washes, our new dark washes, mid shades of indigo selvage and non-selvage denims, as well as black and gray denims. The Artist jean oil painted by artist’s hand on medium wash selvage denim represents the the core of this artistic denim expression. A range of over-dyed pants and lightly sanded stretched twill fabrics, plaids, herringbone’s and wide wale corduroys in brownstone, city gray, amber brown, hardwood green, cedar, slate blue, and over-dyed brown complete the collection. All denim washes will be offered in our best-selling 1025 Morrison and 1011 Baxten fits.
The pinnacle of the Fall 2019 denim offering is our ultimate premium edition of “Annuit Coeptis” jeans done in natural indigo selvage denim, and rare 13 1/2 oz slubby Japanese burgundy selvage denim made and handcrafted in Japan. Each of these pairs of jeans are worked as art pieces, and are conceived to be a perfection in denim. As Gilded Age has never produced large runs of selvage denim, we have named and numbered each pair of these unique and special jeans. Just as the old bottle of rum that needs to be tasted, these jeans need to be worn!
In addition to great denim, the Fall 2019 Collection consists of the range of our ultimate premium edition hand-knitted and machine-knitted cashmere and wool/cashmere blends of sweaters in 5, 7, and 9 GG. These chunky cashmere specimens compare to some of the best that market has to offer.
The unique Gilded Age application of interesting and luxury fabrics has been taken to another level with the use of light and soft woven stretch twills, worked chambrays and fine double-face autumnal checks, stripes, and plaids. For Fall 2019 Gilded Age is re-introducing a range of light and soft knitted gauzy double face wool knits, Henleys, crews, and hoodies in a variety of textures patterns and colors. Luxury slubby and heavy wool, and wool blends layering outerwear knits have been associated with Gilded Age for a while now. This season we are introducing new range of cool horn-buttoned and toggle-fastened heavy wool herringbone and twill melton* hoodies, and pullovers that pay homage to our inspiration and utilitarian nature of this collection. In outerwear, key items include a wool melton raw edge 3-in-1 coat with Gilded Age signature horn buttons and zip out liner, and a group of waterproof wool and cotton tri-layer seam taped, waterproof performance jackets that can withstand even the harshest of the elements. The assortment is completed by our signature range of lined and padded real leather, washed, tumbled and waxed style of jackets and shirt jackets that could be worn all the way through the cold days of winter. The line is furnished with couple of statement Gilded Age blazers styles in ultra suede cotton and soft wool.
*Melton cloth is traditionally made of wool and woven in a twill form. It is thick, due to having been well fulled, which gives it a felt-like smooth surface
We have also reintroduced the Gilded Age signature accessory collection consisting of our classic thick, aged leather belts, 24 oz canvas and leather duffel bags, globetrotter bags, and travel gear.”
