So every once in a while, we seriously deserve to splurge on something that we really are obsessing with. And this time for me it’s all about when I went to check out the first brick and mortar store of New York cult brand, R13.
R13’s trademark denims are known for their authentic distressing and destruction. Their jeans look (and feel) well loved and worn in without any sign of artificial distressing like so many jeans out there nowadays.
Ripped and distressed, the oversized Crossover Distressed Jean is a slouchy and oversized boyfriend style and features a cool asymmetric fly – the whole look of these jeans is SMO. KING. HOT!
Splurge? For sure, with a price tag of $495. Worth it? Absolutely, even if these are the only pair of jeans you’re going to buy this season.
My experience with R13 jeans is that they are never ever “out”, unfashionable, out-dated. Actually, these are probably the “classic” pair of jeans for any fashion forward denim loving woman out there who is not all about skinny stretch jeans. You will wear them for season after season. And just for you record, R13 does have some quite awesome skinny jeans in their collection as well, but I will leave these for some other time to write about.
There are quite a lot of ways to wear these crossover jeans. With a large cuff as shown here. High on the waist, or slouchy low on the hips. You can also roll up the cuffs more in summer time. And layering them in winter over a pair of colored leggings showing through the holes, they’re super edgy.
So, I have made my point. If there is one pair of jeans worth splurging, this is it.
And just in case you’re not into very distressed and ripped jeans, the also come in a darker blue vintage wash without any distressing or rips.
If you’re curious about the R13 store which is located in New York City, in the heart of Soho, on 34 Howard Street, check out the video of my store visit below. The first pair of jeans shown in this video – this is when I fell irrevocably in obsession 😉
