Usually, when we think of rigid 100% cotton denim, we imagine something like a bit stiff and not that comfy. Which is often, but certainly not always, true. And even though some of us might prefer the more stiff and rigid version, now with summer finally happening, we prefer a somewhat softer denim. But without having to give up the 100% cotton, meaning no Elastane or similar involved.
Hudson, which – for me, at least – has always been about rather stretchy denim, really caught me by surprise with their newest non-stretch denim options.
Their cropped and baggy Sloane Jean, is anything but. No stretch at all, but super soft, with that fabulous live-in feel of vintage jeans. Even the wash has a total vintage vibe.
“The Sloane Crop Baggy Jean in Outpace is a cropped, slouchy, low-slung style in a premium, non-stretch medium light indigo denim. This jean features a raw hem and vintage details like hand-sanding. The Sloane is our slouchy, baggy fit.”
Because of their already bigger cut, these jeans are not going to become baggier and slouchier when you wear them. They run true to size and if, when you first wear them, they feel a bit snug, they are going to give only wherever needed, and not more. For me, it was at the waist. I wanted the jeans to be sitting a bit below my hips and at first this didn’t happen. But as I wore them, after a couple of hours, the waist “adapted” and I was able to wear them really low and with a slight drop at the crotch, which is THE perfect way to wear them.
My “Denim-ID” being the absolute nonchalant je ne sais quoi, the Sloane gets plus 5 stars out of 5!
The Sloane Jean also comes in a washed out black. I was really tempted at first, but then, after a long winter of almost only blacks, I did go for the lighter blue option.
And or the fashion conscious ladies among you, the very same style also comes in a super light blue wash with bleach details along the lower part of the legs.
