sustainable denim

Triarchy is one of the totally sustainable denim brands that will be participating for the first time at the New York Denim Days Festival this weekend. They had already taken part at the Nashville Denim Days last year and – by what they have told us – totally fell in love with this whole project.

How much water are you wearing?

That’s the question that Triarchy Denim asks fashionistas. It takes around 2,900 gallons of water to make a pair of traditional cotton jeans, and Triarchy is setting out to save water and resources by reconstructing, reimagining and reinventing denim from recycled materials and high-end trims.

Adam Taubenfligel, the creative director for Triarchy, will be attending New York Denim Days for the first time this summer, and he’s looking forward to bringing Triarchy’s one-of-a-kind styles to the festival. Here’s what Adam is most excited about at NYDD, just around the corner on June 8th and 9th.

How does Triarchy approach denim differently?

Adam: In any and every way possible, we manufacture our Atelier line entirely out of vintage denim, which we deconstruct and then reconstruct into full collections. Fit always remains impeccable, color variation changes based on the original patina of the denim we use.

Our new production compiles multiple different sustainability efforts. We first and foremost use TENCEL™ Lyocell, as well as recycled fibre denims and recycled poly for stretch, we then wash sustainably with ozone and  e flow and laser finishing, topped off with recycled metal buttons and recycled plastic labels. We do everything we can to make the best pair of jeans out there.

What is your theme/story at New York Denim Days?

Adam:  Our theme and story for denim days is simply being true to Triarchy, our story, our sustainability efforts through our use of TENCEL™ Lyocell and Modal fibers and our ask which  is “How much water are you wearing?”

Which TENCEL™ Denim styles are you selling?

Adam: Our women’s Skinny and High Waist Skinny jean in multiple wash variations.

If you were telling your best friend to come to NY Denim Days, what would you say about it?

Adam:  Every type of denim under one roof, what could be better?
