German brand, CLOSED, is ready for spring and summer 2020 with a collection of amazing lifestyle items. It’s one of the brands where you can shop not only for super cool denims, but also for everything you might want to wear with your jeans.
“This spring season, Closed has a new muse: Frida Kahlo, a free-spirited woman with a colorful life. What we admire about her: She was strikingly original and always unafraid to celebrate herself. An inspiration to all women out there to do what they love!
The theme for the spring 2020 collection – Destination Unknown – is a tribute to her. Like Frida and her paintings, this collection is vibrant and colorful. Fun pieces mixed with a touch of heritage. A collection that a modern-day Frida would have enjoyed wearing.
Mini monochrome plaids paired with a boyfriend blazer, chinos and kimono-sleeve details on oversized trench coats – super cool, worn with our favorite denims.
Some more key looks: A fennel beige trench coat teams up with the Closed new heritage dress, with utility details and stitching to perfect the sporty look. Utility details also create a sleek sporty silhouette for an iconic jumpsuit, which is slimmed down and presented in mid-blue. A purple over-shirt is turned luxurious in super soft suede. A paper-thin leather circular skirt is dressed down with our Closed hoodie of the season. Cargo pants with a military waistband detail in olive green are combined with a knitted alpaca poncho. Beige on beige is anything but boring when mixed with our strong purple of the season and leaf green.”
“For the summer 2020 season, Frida Kahlo continues to be Closed’s muse, but it is a modern-day Frida that inspires the Summer 2020 collection. In today’s world with the possibilities of easy travel, Frida would have been a contemporary nomad and would have traveled the world to get her inspiration. Being the cool vibrant artist that she was, Morocco with all its charm and color would most likely have been one of her favorite places. This summer collection is fresh and sophisticated, full of vibrancy, noise and big statements.
In this delivery, utility details are paired with feminine elements for the modern Frida. We start the season fresh and cool with blanket stripes in crisp poplin shirts and fine striped knits inspired by Moroccan blankets. These are teamed with the palest and lightest moon wash denims in the latest cargo pant silhouettes and oversized shift dresses. The moon wash pullover shirts provide a modern update to the classic button-up shirt.
For a feminine touch, embroideries on yokes of dresses and jerseys are reminiscent of the traditional blouses and dresses that Frida wore in her home country of Mexico. The botanical leaf print on the easy summer dresses is loud and colorful just like Frida’s garden. Versatility is key and you will find changeable waistbands on poplin trenches, which give a sophisticated nomad touch.
The collection would not be Frida without her iconic Casa Azul in Mexico City. Her Azure blue home inspires the main color in this delivery and sits cool with Slate Green and Pale Stone. Pink Jasmine and Cream soften the palette.”
