So here’s the thing: word of mouth, gossip, twitter hints, and blogger statements, confirming that the low rise jeans are definitely coming back.
Are the low rise jeans coming back? Controversial reactions everywhere. Actually, it’s quite amusing to read some of the comments on twitter or the likes. There are some that love them, some that already are wearing them (yours truly!), and – ok, most of the comments are really quite “hateful”. Ranging from no way (elegant), to f*** no way (language, please!) to the very reasonable: It all depends on the style and fit of the jeans and your body type.
I chose the Citizens of Humanity Racer Jean this week because I want to show that low rise can actually look pretty cool! The Racer jeans have been a staple in many Citizens of Humanity collections for years, since at least 2014 – check it out, we’ve been writing about them since then!
The jeans are a skinny style with an inseam that – depending on the wash – is either ankle or full length. Most of the washes are made with stretch denim, albeit with no more than 2% stretch. This gives the jeans the look and feel of real denim. Something I would never give up, no matter how great the comfort. If I was looking mainly for comfort, I’d wear leggings or sweatpants.
The Racer Jeans come in eight different washes, including a creamy white and a super soft black containing extra 10% Polyester so that they feel almost like velvet. Shown here are the jeans in a beautiful light blue vintage wash, actually my favorite.
Let us know how you feel about the return of the skinny jeans by leaving a comment below the post or on our social.
And if you’re not ready – yet – for some low rise, there are tons of high- and super high waisted jeans also available in the Citizens of Humanity collection. Check them out here.
