We have always loved the CLOSED men’s collection for their heritage denim, and, of course, for the most fashionable and trendy lifestyle items they include every new season. There is nothing boring, run-of-the mill here, even their basics usually include some cool details or extras.
Let’s have a look what CLOSED has in store for the guys this coming spring and summer 2020.
“Going South” is the theme for their new collection:
“A warm breeze coming from an oriental shore inspires this summer collection. Light and easy in its silhouette and choice of fabrics and colors. The sophisticated hippie meets the archive-loving world traveler.
In silhouettes, relaxed tapered pants remain and are paired generously with natural fiber tops for jackets and sweats. Menswear classics, in every category, are fitted into the Closed feeling for the summer.
To underpin the lightness, linings are minimal and garment construction has been reduced. Louche tailored looks inspire a summer occasion story.
We introduced oriental and hippie references, celebrating cultural identities and expressing positive openness and individuality.
The focus is on responsible sourcing and reusing materials, shifting to a more sustainable mind-set in design. “Refibra”, “organic” and “recycling” are key words and widely used within the collection, especially for denim.
Handcrafted details are incorporated, for example in the styling of pants with a formal approach, individual fabric developments as Ikat weave and embroidery details. This free-spirited approach is underlined by patterns like stripes and checks. Yarn fibers include simple twists, slub yarns, and toweling highlights. The blends are cotton-based, but infused with linen for supreme lightness and a summery hand-feel.
The Closed heritage is reinterpreted with a focus on indigo looks and archive shapes. These are titled the “The Closed Jean”, and the shade of blue is true to vintage.
The denim comes in a wide range of rather gentle and subdued washes for the contemporary easy look. The hippie inspiration manifests itself in the form of heavily patched wash and block-patterned white and blue jeans.
The light approach of the theme is key for the color card. Enhanced naturals have a washed and soft quality and offer a luxury feeling. These core and neutral tones feel directional and work well with off-kilter brights, like the vibrant flowery pink and the hint of spicy orange. This color input is confident and shows a change in perception. A nice selection of light pastels heighten the summer vibe and round up the color range.“
