The main purpose of my weekly best jean post is to talk about jeans that are somewhat different and stand out from the denims you see all the time. Independent of brand or price, I am picking jeans that have called out my special attention during any given week.
Today it’s all about the rag & bone Engineer Jeans. I had first heard about these jeans a few seasons back, but then it looked like rag & bone never really came through with these until now.
What makes these bad boys special are, first, the fit, and second, the details.
Inspired by workwear, the jeans have a roomier fit, a total must have for me. But they are not really baggy, just comfortable, and the slouchier fit is fundamental when it comes to 100% cotton denim. The style is a cropped tapered slim leg with a finished, albeit uneven, hi-low hem.
If you look closely at the images shown below, you can see the added details of the darts which are placed strategically at the inside of the legs above the knees and at the back of the waist. Those darts are placed there for a reason, not only for the look. The one on the legs is to make the jeans fall naturally down to the ankles, and the one on the waist ensures a snugger fit.
The Engineer Jeans are available in three different washes: the light blue shown here, a dark raw blue, and also a two-tone wash for the fashion forward ladies. And – did I tell you – right now rag & bone does offer a 25% discount sitewide!
