Vintage denim is my passion. Not only because it’s environmental friendly and sustainable but also because I love to go back in time – denim time!
My biggest idols from back then are James Dean, Marlon Brando and of course, Marilyn Monroe. Those guys knew how to rock their denim back then.
And if it can’t be real vintage, the next best thing for me are vintage style jeans. Exactly where denim icon brand, Lee, comes in.
They recently launched a capsule of original style jeans: REISSUE:
“As it was then. As it is now”. Based on historical patterns – Lee re-created them, re-imagined them for today.
The original boyfriend jeans were first issued in February, 1947, and the Reissue was made in 2019 . Even before Lee Riders were available specifically for women, the Lee woman sometimes wore the men’s cowboy pants: ” Because she wore them, too. The contesting cowgirl. The farmers’ daughter. The WWII land girl.”
The Ladies Lee Rider Jean was identical to the men’s. The difference? A small dart in the yoke to create a more fitted and higher waist for the female physique. Just as tough. Just as cool. A seriously rad option if you feel like me when it comes to vintage jeans re-made.
Lee sent me the black version of the REISSUE for a review. The jeans are made of a rigid black lighter weight raw selvedge denim. They are good to wear right now as well as for many seasons to come, because the style is eternal.
The fit is amazing, featuring a super high waist, button-fly, and what I love most is that the legs are not skinny, but cut in a wider (not wide-leg) straight style.
As I have pointed out many times before, I am actually not a fan of super high waisted jeans. But these are the exception. Because they are not only fashionable and trendy right now, but also a classic, and certainly eye-catching when you wear them with any cropped top.
This is serious business for all ladies like me who also love to wear men’s jeans.
Also, check out below the Lee REISSUE Rider jeans in a blue wash. The fit is the same as the black, but the legs are cut a bit slimmer.
