Urban Outfitters just released a new Urban Renewal collection and, of course, it’s all about recycled and refurbished denims. Sustainability has become a necessity for all of us. Part of our everyday life.
Recycling and renewing is also increasingly present in the denim industry. As opposed to last decade, these days many more denim manufacturers and denim brands have made the change from waste to sustainable. Less water, less dyes, less harmful chemicals.
We are turning into more environmentally conscious consumers. Especially when it comes to fashion. And this is why we are always checking out the Urban Outfitter’s Renewal collection. Their capsule always includes a lot of denim and for very reasonable prices – as opposed to many vintage stores out there. And yes, if you read the reviews, there are a lot of people complaining about the items they’ve received which look totally different from those pictured on the website.
But hey – Urban tells you loud and clear: Each item is unique. So you should go with an open mind on your vintage shopping spree, knowing that your jeans or your denim shirt might be a bit (or even a lot) different from the one you’ve checked out. But this is what vintage shopping is all about. At least for us, it doesn’t lessen the excitement of receiving a one-of-a-kind item instead of a mass-produced fast fashion one.
Returns and exchanges are free for US customers, so you might consider buying more than one option for a certain style. Then you have the chance to chose the one piece that you like better.
This said, scroll down to see our favorite picks from the newest Renewal capsule launched this week, available online as well as in some of the Urban Outfitter stores.
Recycled Denim Skirtall ($59) – spring is on the way…
Recycled Spliced Sport Sweatshirt ($59) – sweatshirts are a must-have and we love these “split-up” creations, available in three different options
Recycled Lee Mom Shorts ($49) – summer needs denim shorts, and we need endless options
Recycled Bleach Stripe Jeans ($89) – always old and recycled Levi’s, no margin for error 😉
Crossover Carpenter Jeans ($89) – my personal favorite, these run really big at the legs, but you need to go for your regular denim size, otherwise the waist won’t fit. These are for you only if you love uber-wide legs! I am a size 28/29 and got a medium, the small was too tight at the waist, didn’t close at all. And just FYI – asymmetric button-fly is the latest rage (read here).
Vintage Pre-90’s Denim Jacket ($98) – a bit tricky because it’s one size only, we recommend ordering at least two to choose from
