To clear your most obvious doubts about rigid denim right here at the beginning: No, rigid doesn’t necessarily mean stiff and uncomfortable – in the longer run. They might feel like this the first time you put them on, but then you do the following:
- A few lunges and squats will help to loosen up the fibers
- Wear them around the house. Any type of movement can help the denim loosen up a little bit
- Take a bath with them – this is how we used to wear in our original fit Levi’s 501 back then….
Keep in mind, rigid denim is not designed to fit like a glove on the first, third or fifth time. It takes time. It actually takes wearing them and moving in them.
You should buy your regular size. Yes, they will be tight at first and they should be if you want them to mold to your body and give you that perfect fit. They should feel tight. Just keep in mind they’ll probably ease off about an inch or inch and a half.
Buy a size up ONLY if you want a boyfriend fit.
The length might shrink around 1″ or more – better think “more” if the jeans are made of raw denim and not pre-washed.
And now that we have (hopefully) cleared your doubts, below you can find three options for raw and unwashed rigid jeans that you will have to work on. And also three options of rigid 100% cotton denim jeans that have been pre-washed and therefore come with “instant gratification”.
