As you probably know by now, I am one of the women denim addicts who loves to wear men’s jeans. And I also prefer, whenever possible, selvedge and raw.
It is one of my projects to personally wear in a pair of raw jeans and make them my own. My denim “challenge”! And the heavier weight (12,5+oz) the better.
For my next project I had the opportunity to choose a pair of jeans at the Naked & Famous store located in Soho, New York City.
Guys, that store is absolutely amazing. You can get the idea by checking out my video which I posted on Instagram while I was at the store.
I had an incredible good time going through quite a lot of options there – thanks for your patience Zeke and Steve! In the end, after having tried on at least five or six or eight (!) jeans, I opted for the raw indigo men’s Weird Guy, made of heavy weight Guardian selvedge:
The Guardian Selvedge is a 14oz Japanese selvedge denim made with 10% real Kevlar® fibers for increased durability and strength. Kevlar®* fiber yarn is famous for being 5 times stronger than steel, per weight. Other details include contrast stitching, full grain black leather patch, white selvedge ID, black military spec non reflective buttons and rivets.
*Kevlar® is a trademark or registered trademark of E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Company.
The fit is a classic men’s denim style, straight with slight tapering at the legs, the perfect classic denim fit. I went one size bigger tan my regular men’s jeans size because I prefer to wear them lower on the hips (I am so over high rises).
One more super important detail: Naked & Famous jeans come with a 34″ inseam. But if you buy them in the store the will hem them right there and then. And with the total original hem.
