Cotte D’Armes recently showed their spring/summer 2025 collection in the Ned NoMad Hotel in Chelsea, NYC.
We felt it was an outstanding and very “Cotte D’Armes” like collection! Meaning, totally outside-ot-the-box. Not following any fashion trends, but creating their own – as we have come to expect from the brand. And also, most of the collection’s – like the previous ones as well – are actually unisex.
Clarence Ruth, founder and creative director of the brand, tells us:
This collection emerges from the intersection of two distinct yet compelling concepts: the traditional apparel of women in the church and elevated contemporary athleisure. These seemingly contrasting ideas embody different values but share a common thread of purpose.
As a young boy growing up and attending sunday service, clarence was captivated by church women’s remarkable and impeccable presentation. Witnessing their unwavering faith and devotion, coupled with their impeccable attire, left an everlasting impression on me. Their presence and grace, seamlessly intertwined with their spiritual commitment, have profoundly influenced this collection.
Traditionally, women attending sunday church services adorn themselves with meticulous elegance and unblemished grooming reflect their commitment to presenting their finest selves. Conversely, modern athleisure prioritizes functionality and comfort, emphasizing practicality and ease of movement in a fast-paced world.
Despite their differences, both styles are defined by their effectiveness within their respective contexts. They each serve a distinct role in shaping the environments they inhabit.
This collection represents a harmonious convergence of tradition and modernity, bridging the heritage of the past with the innovations of the future.
Key Notes:
This collection was produced from 85% of upcycled materials.
The denim hip dresses in this collection feature built in LED light technology.
The suiting jackets have denim detailing on the back.
And, foremost, as usual, this collection is functional.
