Kingpins Show, the original jeans supply chain sourcing event and global denim platform, returns to Hong Kong for its November 21-22 run at the HKDC Design and Fashion Centre in Hong Kong’s Kowloon district.
This is Kingpins’ second pop-up event in Hong Kong and the event features about 25 exhibitors from Asia, Europe and the United States, as well as a slate of programming designed for both a business and consumer audience. This blend of B2B and B2C elements draws an attendee base that includes retailers, brands and denim-loving consumers.
Kingpins Hong Kong is happening during The Fashion Union — A Platform to Celebrate the Beauty of Workwear, The Fashion Union’s 8-day “Beauty of Workwear” program, featuring vintage pieces co-curated by The Vintage Showroom’s Douglas Gunn for the Workwear Exhibition, as well as original designs by local Hong Kong Designers. The Fashion Union is organized by the Hong Kong Design Institute and supported by the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency, part of the Hong Kong Fashion Fest, which is presented by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
Kingpins Hong Kong will feature a pop-up fashion show, as well as a Denim Talks seminar series and other denim-focused initiatives created to inform and inspire.
LilDenimJean founders Max Kaupp and Nick Baur will be back with “The Lil Denim Show,” which focuses on the next generation of denim creatives. The Vintage Showroom’s Gunn will discuss the intersection of denim and workwear in a talk titled “ A Denim Workwear Love Story.”
Denim designer and consultant Miles Johnson will look at what’s in store for denim design in a presentation titled “Future in Sight,” while denim consultant David Tring will lead a discussion about material developments titled “Innovative Materials (From Lab to Loom).” Kingpins’ Managing Director & Head of Global Sales Vivian Wang will host the “Key Pieces from Inspiring Wardrobes Around the World,” panel, which has been curated by The Vintage Showroom.
Other initiatives include Kingpins’ One Denim project, which looks at the breadth of looks that can be achieved from a single fabrication. Cone Denim and Tonello worked with Kingpins to create the One Denim collection.
