Levi’s® Vintage Clothing – 1955 Hand-Drawn 501® Jean

The coolest end-of-the-year surprise for all denim heads! Levi’s® Vintage is doing it again 🙂

The iconic status of the 501® jean didn’t happen overnight. For 150 years, generation after generation has uniquely embraced this pair of jeans while the Levi’s® brand has leaned into both core elements and quirks that have made them so beloved. In recognition of the 150th anniversary of a formative moment in fashion, the Levi’s® Vintage Clothing team wanted to honor the garment’s many distinctive branding details. The result is the limited-edition 1955 Hand-Drawn 501® jean.

Every detail of Levi’s® 1955 501® jean – from the Two-Horse Pull patch and buttons to the packaging and even the iconic Red Tab – has been meticulously recreated by hand. While unconventional and wonky, these limited-edition pairs are immediately recognizable. Made from deadstock Cone Mills White Oak Red Selvedge Denim, only 501 pairs have been created in celebration of the 150th anniversary. The 1955 Hand-Drawn 501® jean, which pays homage to the thrill-seeking bikers of the ’50s, has a looser cut in the seat as well as a slightly fuller cut around the leg and an overall boxier silhouette. With the hand-drawn logo on the accompanying tote bag, the 1955 Hand-Drawn 501® jean captures the unique packaging and branding details that have become so cherished by fans of 501® jean.

“To celebrate the historic anniversary of the 501® jean and its iconic branding, we thought it would be fun to hand-draw all of the graphic elements on one of our favorite historical 501® fits,” explains Paul O’Neill, Design Director at Levi’s® Vintage Clothing. “While delivering the fit and features of the classic 1955 501®  jean, each pair is unique, somewhat wonky and a bit sketchy.”

{note from the editor — wonky?!}

The limited-edition 1955 Hand-Drawn 501® jean will be available for purchase as of today, November 30th, on Levi.com, the Levi’s® App, and in select Levi’s® Stores.
