Magnus Carlsen – “I Will Play In Jeans”!

We always cheer when we hear about denim lovers who never give up on wearing their jeans for any kind of occasion. And that’s why we love chess grandmaster, Magnus Carlsen.

During the FIDE World Blitz Chess Championship on Dec. 30, 2024 in New York City. he refused to adhere to their dress code and insisted in keeping on his jeans. KUDOS! What’s a dress code anyway for a chess match, huh? Sitting down. And sitting down comfortably, right!

World No. 1 Magnus Carlsen quit the World Rapid Chess Championship this past Friday after he refused to change out of the jeans he was wearing, according to the International Chess Federation (FIDE). But then he took a U-turn and decided to take part in the Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship:

His fashion protest initially led to a $200 fine and disqualification from the tournament. But after some discussions with the organizers, he was apparently “back in the game”.

Carlsen has been a dedicated denim lover since forever – you probably can remember him as the G-Star spokesman back in 2014, featured in the brand’s ad campaign. And now, they’re back talking about new collaborations this year.

We can’t wait to see!
