Balenciaga F/W 2025 – All About “Standard”

collection

So, what happened with Gemna’s Balenciaga, huh? Where’s the Gemna uber-oversized eye-catching denim? The reason we fell in love with Balenciaga in first place? Remember, all those Justin Biebers and the likes – couldn’t get enough of your denims.

Are we seeing the end of the uber and over-sized everything era approaching? Well, the end of an era is the beginning of a new one. On our radar, we will certainly keep you posted!

As per Demna Gvasalia, this Balenciaga collection marked a notable shift toward understated, wearable fashion. Nothing of the exaggerated or overstated looks we’ve come to expect from the brand.

This collection is a study of different ‘standard’ clothes. Meaning he’d designed a collection that methodically went through all the categories and the characters he has built as the known Balenciaga universe. Out came his scary men and women in corporate suits, his chic tailoring, his denim-and bombers streetwear, coded underground club and sportswear, his Cristobal couture-referenced eveningwear.

Demna described this collection as a reset, aiming to create fashion that feels urgent and essential. He expressed a desire to move away from unwearable art towards more standard, practical clothing. Summing it up, Balenciaga makes wearable fashion fashionable again. But, all this said, we are going to miss the “un-wearable”😔
