A denim style that has been sneaking upon us for the past couple of years, the barrel-leg jeans, huh? Admitted, we haven’t been overly attentive to those before but now there is no more denying it – barrel-leg jeans are definitely a rising trend in 2024.
To sum it up, barrel-leg, or balloon leg jeans as many fashionistas also call them, are fitted through the hips and then “balloon” out at the mid-thigh into a curved wide leg, which then becomes tapered at the ankles. In other words: fitted wide-leg tapered jeans! Oh and, yes, definitely high waisted.
Sounds pretty controversial, doesn’t it. We even take this as far as the yes/no barrel leg jeans has become the new sartorial question which previously was all about skinny versus baggy jeans.
At any rate, we suggest barrel-leg jeans as an interesting option for you if you are looking for new. Or if you just want to add a quite different kind of jeans fit to your denim closet.
FYI – The first time we noticed this denim fit was about two years ago when we first spotted Citizens of Humanity Horseshoe Jeans. And back then who would have suspected that this style would become quite the trend (link below).
