Hollywood glamour meets French couture. Jonathan Anderson’s Dior Cruise 2027 collection brought undone California cool to the runway with distressed denim, fluid silhouettes and cinematic craftsmanship under the lights of Los Angeles.
So yes, ripped jeans are definitely not going anywhere. In spite of so many brands trying hard to push dark indigo denim, it looks like both ripped and clean dark denim will have to “live side by side”! (That’s, at least, your Denimology editor’s humble opinion!).
Anderson made distressed denim one of the defining elements of his first Dior Cruise collection. Rather than treating jeans as casual basics, he elevated them through couture techniques and Hollywood-inspired styling.
The most talked-about denim innovation was the use of fine silver chains threaded through ripped areas of the jeans to imitate loose cotton fibers.
From a distance the jeans appeared heavily distressed, but up close they revealed meticulous jewelry-like craftsmanship. It was one of the collection’s clearest examples of Anderson blending couture techniques with everyday garments.
The tension between refined Dior tailoring and worn-in denim became one of the show’s defining visual ideas.
The Dior Cruise 2027 collection brings us an important distinction within the Fall 2026/Resort 2027 denim landscape. While many brands are championing clean dark indigo, Dior demonstrates that decorative, artisanal distressing can feel equally modern when executed with precision. It reinforces a broader luxury trend in which denim is treated as a canvas for craftsmanship rather than simply a casual fabric.
